GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Manhattanville College men's lacrosse team suffered a tough 20-6 non-conference loss on the road Wednesday evening, March 11, at Arcadia University.
The Valiants (1-4) fell behind 4-0 early in the first, but trimmed the Knights' (5-2) lead in half to 4-2 with just under six minutes left in the quarter for the time being. Unfortunately, Arcadia scored six of the next seven goals en route to the 14-goal win.
Rookie attackman
Stephen Magarelli (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Lakeland Senior) took a featured role in the offense for Manhattanville on the night as the Valiants entered the contest a bit shorthanded up front. The freshman picked up the hat trick to lead his squad, as senior
Nick Delia (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown South) scored a goal and assisted on another.
Sophomore
Kevin Rafferty (Yonkers, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac) and senior
Ryan Leonard (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) picked up assists, while junior
Jesse McGrath (Walden, N.Y./Valley Central) and senior
Ty Arnone (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes) each scored their first goals of the season.
Manhattanville is scheduled to return to action this Saturday afternoon, March 14, at 12:00 p.m. when Drew University comes to GoValiants.com Field in Purchase, N.Y. The Valiants and Rangers have met 12 times before, but not since the 2010 season.
