Men's Soccer Finishes Undefeated in Conference Play, Secures No. 1 Seed

PURCHASE, N.Y. – For the second consecutive season, the Manhatanville College men's soccer team completed an undefeated Skyline Conference schedule and have secured the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Conference Championship tournament following a 3-0 win over SUNY Old Westbury on Thursday afternoon. With the win, the Valiants conclude the regular season with an overall record of 11-4-2 and a record of 10-0-1 against Skyline opponents.

Michael Mezzina's (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Morris Catholic) first half goal was enough to lead the Valiants to victory, as the junior's third goal of the season in the 12th minute was the only scoring in the first 45 minutes of play. Manhattanville would add a pair of insurance goals in the second half. Eli Pardo (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon) scored his team-leading 13th goal in the 63rd minute off an assist by Mezzina. With just over ten minutes remaining in the contest, Gabriel Jefferies (Tunbridge Wells, U.K./Ridge (N.J.)) added his first collegiate goal set up by a pass from Lucas Fernandez (Miami, Fla./Belen Jesuit) to put the game away.

The Valiants held Old Westbury to just a single shot in the contest, a second-half attempt by Remberto Ramirez that went wide of target. Despite not being tasked with any saves, Luis Granados (Pasadena, Calif./St. Francis) collected his eighth shutout of the year and dropping his goals-against average to 0.49.
