Manhattanville Women's Soccer Season Ends With Skyline Semifinals Loss to Mount Saint Mary

PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College women's soccer season came to an end on Wednesday afternoon, as the second-seeded Valiants fell to No. 3 Mount Saint Mary, 1-0., in the Skyline Conference Championship semifinals. With the loss, the Valiants will end the season with a 10-4-2 record.

In what was a very scrappy contest, the Knights found the only goal of the day in the 39th minute, as KellyAnn Platt fired a shot past Alexa Pyatsky (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) to give Mount Saint Mary a first half lead they would never surrender.

The teams would draw a combined six yellow cards and be whistled for 28 fouls as physicality took control over how the game would play out.

The Valiants were held to four total shots on the evening, with three going on net. After the Knights' tally, Manhattanville would record their first shot of the contest with 57 seconds left in the half as Alexa Fasce (Hicksville, NY/Hicksville High School) fired the ball over the top crossbar. All three of Manhattanville's second half shots were more accurate, as Fasce, Skyla Marrone (East Northport, N.Y./St. Anthony's), and Natalie Aracena (Bronx, N.Y./Riverdale Kingsbride Academy) tested Christina Kakavas, but the Knights' goalkeeper Christina Kakavas was able to stop them all. The four shots matched a season-low for the Valiants, tying their mark against Farmingdale back on Oct. 16.

Pyatsky made a pair of saves in the contest, one in each half, to keep Manhattanville within striking distance. The senior ends her season with a 0.90 goals-against average, the third lowest season mark in program history. Her career 1.88 GAA places fifth all-time in the program record book.
