RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College men's basketball team helped usher in the new year of college basketball on Wednesday afternoon, competing against Division I Manhattan College. While the game counted as an exhibition on the Valiants' schedule, the game will count as a regular season showdown for the hosting Jaspers, the first regular season game of the NCAA DI season. Manhattanville had the opportunity of playing in front of an ESPN audience, ultimately dropping the contest by at 99-42 final.
Chris Brown (Miami, Fla./Coral Gables Senior) led the Valiant offense with 13 points, shooting 6-of-8 from the field. Fifth year
Mike Granda (Monroe Township, N.J./St. Joseph) hit all three of his shots from the field, all three pointers, to end the contest with nine points.
Tommy Lotito (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Peter's) had a team-high three assists in the effort, playing a team-high 23 minutes. The Valiants collected 25 total rebounds, with Brown leading the team with five.
Connor Yetman (Sydney, Australia/The Scots College (H.S.)) also had four boards, three coming off the defensive glass.
The Jaspers had five scorers reach double figures, led by a 13-point effort by Ant Nelson off the bench. Manhattan's Nick Brennen found success from deep against the Valiant defense, connecting on four of his shots from beyond the arc. Samba Diallo led the home squad with six total rebounds.

The next time the Valiants take the court will be for their official season opener on Thursday night. Manhattanville hosts Five Towns College at 8 p.m.
