PINE VALLEY, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College women's hockey team had their postseason run brought to an end by number one seed Elmira College, Saturday, April 3. The Valiants (4-5) fell by a score of 3-0 in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) semifinals.
The Soaring Eagles (12-1) took control of the game early with two first period goals within the first 10 minutes of play. They carried this 2-0 lead into the first intermission and then tallied their third and final goal with seven minutes left in the period. The Valiants were unable to muster the offense to mount a comeback. Sophomore goalie
Franny Gerardi (Yonkers, N.Y./Selects Academy) made 42 saves on 45 shots but her team only got 15 shots on goal in the other end.
The Valiants will return next year with a young roster that will only graduate four seniors. They will look to build upon the second half of their season were they won four of their last five games.
