PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College men's tennis team saw their season come to an end in the Skyline Conference Championship match against Farmingdale State College, Sunday, May 9. The Valiants (5-2) finished with two doubles win and two singles wins in the 5-4 loss.
At doubles, Manhattanville earned victories at second and third positions. Sophomore
Luis Gonzalez (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon) and junior
Dylan Crowley (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham Memorial) won 8-6 at second doubles and senior
Alex Fleischman (Riverside, Conn./King) paired with freshman
Shiel Loganadan (New York, N.Y./Mary McDowell Friends) won 8-2 at third doubles.
The singles matches were a battle. Three of the six matches saw a third set. At fourth singles, Crowley won 3-6, 7-5, 6-0 and at fifth singles 6-4, 7-6 (7-5). The final set of the first singles match was moved indoors due to rain and the match was on the line with both team tied at four. Freshman
James Hourihan (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) fell just short, losing 6-1, 2-6, 4-6.
The Crimson and White will look to make another run at a title next season as they only lose one senior from their starting lineup.
