9/8/2021 5:09:00 PM

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – For the first time ever, the Manhattanvile College women's rugby team, led by head coach Frank Graziano, competed in a regular season match. The first match in Valiant history took place on Monday afternoon at the University of New Haven, where Manhattanvillle fell to the Chargers in a pair of contests (17-5, 14-10).

Kasey Molito (Whitman, MA/Whitman-Hanson Regional) made Manhattanville history, scoring the program's first ever try in the opening match courtesy of an assist from Kate Vaughan (Brewster, NY/Brewster HS). The senior Molito also had a team-leading seven tackles in the opener.

The Molito-Vaughan connection also accounted for all of the Valiants' points in Game Two, as Moltio recorded both of Manhattanville's tries off of feeds from Vaughan. Molito finished the contest with four more tackles, while Sokhna Gaye (Mount Vernon, NY/Mount Vernon HS) contributed a pair of her own.
