Women's Hockey Swept at No. 7 Nazareth

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – It was a second-straight contest decided by one goal against the seventh-ranked team in the nation, but the Manhattanville College women's hockey team was unable to find the tying goal on Saturday against Nazareth, falling 3-2. The loss completes the sweep at the hands of the Golden Eagles as the Valiants drop to 10-7-1 and 10-4-0 in the UCHC.

Unlike yesterday's affair it would be the Golden Flyers that got on the board first in the series finale, as Elie Fallieras put Nazareth up 1-0 at 15:07 off a pass from Ally Watrous. The lead would be short-lived, as Annie Niedermier (Alberta, Canada/Athol Murray College of Notre Dame) responded just 36 seconds later on her fourth of the season courtesy of a Taylor Ham (Saugerties, N.Y./Millbrook School) assist.

With just nine seconds to go before the end of the period, Ana Tittmann (Salisbury, Conn./Housatonic Valley Regional) put the Vals ahead with her second of the year from Niedermier. After carrying the one goal lead into the second, Nazareth would tie it up on a Hailey Redders goal 13:54 into the second. Abbey Luth would then put the Golden Flyers ahead for good, scoring with 3:19 left in the period. The Valiants were held to just five shots in the third period as Adrianna Brehm made the final of her 11 saves of the day to earn the win.

Franny Gerardi (Yonkers, N.Y./Selects Academy) was once again solid with 35 saves for Manhattanville, ending the weekend with 75 stops in the two games against Nazareth. The junior goaltender now has 450 saves on the year on a 2.80 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage.

The Golden Flyers once again dominated the faceoffs, 32-17. Grace Felicio (Holden, Mass./Wachusett Regional) and Morgan Miller (St. Augustine, Fla./Gilmour Academy) won seven draws each for the Valiants. Manhattanville was 0-for-3 on the power play with five shots while the Vals' PK unit successfully killed the lone Golden Flyers' attempt.
