PURCHASE, N.Y. – As the fall season comes to a close, the Manhattanville College women's tennis team fell to New Jersey City University on Saturday afternoon, 9-0. With the loss, the Valiants finish the season 0-10.
The No. 3 doubles position was the first match to conclude, as the team of
Ally Petricca (New Hyde Park, N.Y./New Hyde Park Memorial) and
Alana Anderson (Wellington, Fla./Palm Beach Central) were defeated by Vanshita Malhotra and Mar Julia, 0-8.
Victoria Szele (Cos Cob, Conn./Greenwich High School) and
Sara King (Schenectady, N.Y./Scotia-Glenville) at the No. 2 slot fell to Eliza Clamor and Sara Zorzan, 0-8. No. 1 doubles finished last where
Bea Pretnar (Mohegan Lake, N.Y./Soundview Prep) and
Ella Brown (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) were bested by Giada Zorzan and Sophia Jurina, 1-8.
For singles, Szele was swept by Clamor at the No. 2 position, 0-6, 0-6. Brown in the No. 3 slot was defeated by Malhotra, 1-6, 1-6. Pretnar finished next at No. 1 singles as she lost to G. Zorzan, 1-6, 0-6. Anderson competed in the No. 4 position and fell to S. Zorzan 2-6, 0-6. King was swept 0-6, 0-6 by Jurina in the No. 6 slot. Petricca played in the final match at No. 6 singles and made the best effort with a loss to Julia 6-2, 2-6, and an 8-10 tiebreaker.
The Valiants conclude their fall season and return for more action in the springtime.
