PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College men's lacrosse team made its home debut on Wednesday night, falling to Western Connecticut State University by a final of 12-4. The Valiants drop to 1-1 in the early going of the 2022 campaign.
Sean Larkin (White Plains, N.Y./White Plains) led the Valiants with a three point night, scoring twice and adding an assist. The sophomore has had a fantastic start to his season, collecting five points with four goals across the first two games.
WestConn struck first as Donald Shaumloffel and Benjamin Hawthorne netted a pair of goals separated by 42 seconds, giving the visitors a 2-0 lead with 6:25 left in the stanza.

The visiting WestConn was not shaken by the Manhattanville goal, scoring seven unanswered tallies across the next three quarters. Hawthorne got extremely comfortable in the attacking zone, scoring six goals on the night by the time everything was said and done. The junior midfielder had scored three straight goals himself as part of the WestConn run, helping the guests put the home team in a 9-1 hole entering the fourth quarter.
Harrison Yoguez (Trumbull, Conn./St. Joseph) was able to stop the run and get the Valiants back in the goal column 28 seconds into the final quarter. The senior was able to capitalize on Manhattanville's man advantage to score his first of the year. WestConn would add three more, two courtesy of Hawthorne, before Larkin ended the night with his pair of goals, including one in the final second of the game.
