PURCHASE, N.Y. – The first Senior Night of the spring semester was a successful one for the Manhattanville College women's lacrosse team, as the Valiants were victorious in the latest installment of the Battle for Anderson Hill Road over Purchase, 19-1. The win moves the Valiants to 3-8 overall and 2-3 in Skyline Conference play.
The 18-goal margin of victory as well as the one score allowed is the best by the Valiants since 2020, when Manhattanville defeated Keystone in their season opener 22-1.
Prior to the start of the game, the Valiants honored their five graduating seniors—
Lara Keenan (Montgomery, N.Y./Valley Central),
Kasey Molito (Whitman, MA/Whitman-Hanson Regional),
Caity Bianchi (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City),
Brialee Logue (Hampton, N.H./Winnacunnet) and
Ally Petricca (New Hyde Park, N.Y./New Hyde Park Memorial). All five would find the back of the net on the night, combining for 11 of the team's goals.
In addition to her four-goal night, Keenan had a record-breaking performance in another regard. The senior earned six draw controls, bringing her career total to 205. Keenan now sits atop the program record book in the category, passing the previous record held by Sarah Dalsey '16 of 200.
Keenan's four goals led the team offensively on the night, while Logue and
Marisa D'Angelo (Wantagh, N.Y./MacArthur) posted matching statlines of three goals and an assist.
The Valiants built a 3-0 lead halfway through the first quarter. D'Angelo opened up the scoring at the 10:21 mark before Keenan and Logue netted a pair of man-down goals 19 seconds apart starting at 6:30. Purchase responded with a Madison Buttice tally at 5:37, but the Panthers offense was unable to do anything else all night long, logging just four total shots on the night. Meanwhile, the Valiants would score five more times before the first quarter came to a close. Logue netted her second before setting up
Jordan Sheehan's (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) goal at 3:10.
Kerry Carr (New Hartford, N.Y./Millbrook School) followed suit with a goal of her own 20 seconds later from D'Angelo before she notched her second tally of the night unassisted,
Maura Kelly (Stratford, Conn./Bunnell) closed out the dominant first period with a goal in the closing seconds to put the Valiants up 8-1.
From there, the rest of the game was all Manhattanville as the Valiants would score 11 unanswered goals over the final three periods. Keenan notched her hat trick with the first two goals of the second, her third goal of the night being assisted by Kelly. Sheehan scored with 8:13 to go in the period before Logue earned a hat trick of her own with 5:57 remaining. Keenen added her fourth to bring her season total to a team-leading 25 before Bianchi closed out the half with a man-up goal with 2:46 left on the clock. Through 30 minutes, the Valiants led 14-1.
With plenty of breathing room, the Valiants were able to control the pace the rest of the way in the second half. Petricca scored the first goal of the third before Molito got involved in the offense for the first time this season, scoring a pair to close out the period. Kelly and D'Angelo would each score one more in the fourth to close the book on the victorious Senior Night.
As a team, the Valiants collected 31 ground balls. Petricca led the team with a season-high seven, while Molito added four. The team also caused a season-high 29 turnovers, led by Keenan's six. Kelly added five, while Petricca caused four.
