NEWBURGH, N.Y. – It was another come-from-behind win for the Manhattanville College women's lacrosse team on Saturday afternoon, as the Valiants scored six goal in the fourth quarter to best Mount Saint Mary 16-12. With their fourth straight win, the Valiants end the regular season with a 5-8 record and a 4-3 mark in the Skyline Conference, earning the No. 4 seed for next week's Skyline Conference Championship Tournament.
A pair of five-point performances led the offensive production as
Marisa D'Angelo (Wantagh, N.Y./MacArthur) and
Lara Keenan (Montgomery, N.Y./Valley Central) combined for nine goals. The junior D'Angelo led the way with five tallies, her second game of the season with five scores. She ends the regular season third on the team in goals scored with 26. Keenan, meanwhile, scored four goals while dishing out an assist. The senior enters the postseason with a team-leading 32 goals.
After helping orchestrate Wednesday's comeback win with five points,
Maura Kelly (Stratford, Conn./Bunnell) recorded another hat trick with three goals and an assist on Saturday. The junior rides a nine-game goal streak into the Skyline Conference Championship tournament.
The Valiants took claim to a 3-2 lead after a back-and-forth opening 15 minutes. The Knights struck first on Karlie Ferrucci's goal just over three minutes into the game, but D'Angelo notched her first of the game off Keenan's assist to the tie the game back up through five minutes of play. Mount Saint Mary went back in front with a Megan Shalvey goal with 4:03 remaining, but
Brialee Logue (Hampton, N.H./Winnacunnet) was able to even the game up once again, finishing
Kerry Carr's (New Hartford, N.Y./Millbrook School) assist for her 13
th score of the season. With 2:15 remaining in the first quarter, D'Angelo notched her second of the day to give Manhattanville their first lead of the contest.
The two teams traded goals to begin the second quarter, with D'Angelo completing her hat trick off
Ally Petricca's (New Hyde Park, N.Y./New Hyde Park Memorial) set up to put the Valiants back ahead 4-3. The first sustained run of the game came by the Knights, as Mount Saint Mary scored three unanswered goals to retake the lead at 6-4 with 6:12 left in the half.
Manhattanville, however, quickly returned the favor with three goals of their own. After scoring off Kelly's assist, Keenan made it two straight with an unassisted tally that tied the game back up 6-6 with 4:50 to go. Petricca then got into the scoring column with a goal two minutes later that looked poised to send the Valiants to the half with the lead, but Victoria Ward fired the equalizer with 49 seconds remaining setting the stage for a brand new game in the second half tied 7-7.
The closing second goal seemed to swing momentum in the favor of the Knights to begin the second half, as Mount Saint Mary scored three times in the opening seven and a half minutes for their largest lead of the day at 10-7. Refusing to be rattled, the Valiants once again pieced together a three goal run to tie the game back up entering the fourth. Petricca began the rally with her second of the game and 12
th of the year with 7:37 remaining in the third. Kelly followed that up with her first of the day a minute and a half later. The score held at 10-9 before Kelly struck again with 29 ticks left on the clock with an unassisted goal and sending the game into the final stanza tied once again at 10-10.
While Shalvey put the Knights back ahead 39 seconds into the period, the Valiants scored six straight goals to go back ahead and never look back. Keenan scored twice in the span of 16 seconds to tie the game and give Manhattanville the lead once again. Kelly then completed her hat trick at 6:36 before D'Angelo netted her fourth of the game with 5:17 to play. Carr then earned her 38
th point of the season on goal number 25 for the year with 4:28 to go before D'Angelo capped off her strong day with her fifth score 40 seconds later. Shalvey got one back for the Knights before the final horn sounded, but the Valiants were able to close out the regular season with momentum on their side entering the conference tournament.
With six draw controls in the win, Kelly surpassed the century mark for her career, now sitting at 104 across three seasons. Kelly also led the team with five ground balls in the contest. Carr won a team-high seven draw controls to go along with four ground balls of her own. On the caused turnover front, it was
Kasey Molito (Whitman, MA/Whitman-Hanson Regional) leading the defensive effort with four. The senior ends the regular season as the team's leader in cause turnovers with 34.
Britney Sirota (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) was credited with five saves in net to secure the win.

The Valiants are postseason bound as the No. 4 seed. Manhattanville will play host to Saint Joseph's (Long Island) in a rematch of Wednesday's thriller for the first round matchup on Tuesday, with game time to be announced.
