PURCHASE, N.Y. – Adding one more accolade to her incredible season as the Manhattanville College women's rugby team captain in the team's inaugural campaign,
Kasey Molito (Whitman, MA/Whitman-Hanson Regional) earned 2021-22 National Intercollegiate Rugby Association (NIRA) All Academic Honors, as announced on Thursday.
Molito one of more than 180 student-athletes recognized by the NIRA for their academic successes this past season. To be nominated for All Academic distinction, student-athletes needed to be a starter or important reserve with a cumulative GPA of a 3.30 or higher and have completed at least one full year at their current institution. Molito completed her senior year with a cumulative GPA of 3.865, earning her degree in Sports Studies in May.
The NIRA All Academic recognitions were broken into three different GPA thresholds. Molito was amongst the 92 student-athletes to earn the highest distinction of the three groups, those with a cumulative GPA of a 3.70 or higher.
This was not Molito's first recognition by the conference, as the outgoing senior captain was named an All-NIRA DIII Honorable Mention in January after leading the team in tries, conversions, points, tackles, steals and runs over 20. The two awards are the first earned by any player in young program's history.
