UNION, N.J. – Facing 34 shots from a relentless Kean attack, the Manhattanville College women's soccer team was defeated on the road on Wednesday night, 4-0. The loss drops the Valiants to 0-5-0 this season.
The Cougars scored three times in the first half en route to the win.
Macey Girard (Branford, Conn./Branford) once again had a very busy night in the cage, recording 16 saves to set a new career high. The rookie goalkeeper has now made 48 saves across her first five collegiate games, sporting a 3.00 goals against average.
Girard made nine stops in the first half, but Kean goals by Grace Casais, Renee Rocha and Sonya Brewer gave the Cougars a 3-0 lead at the half.
Casais struck again in the second half, scoring her second of the night in the 79
th minute. Girard successfully turned away the seven other shots she faced over the final 45 minutes.
For the third time this season, the Valiants were held scoreless. Manhattanville was limited to eight shots in the game, four of which were on goal.
Nadia Parisi (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Lakeland) and
Morgan Passley (Washingtonville, N.Y./Washingtonville) each had a team-high two shots in the loss. Parisi,
Natalie Aracena (Bronx, N.Y./Riverdale Kingsbride Academy),
Caela Vasilkioti (Harrison, N.Y./Harrison) and
Caitlin White (East Lyme, Conn./East Lyme) were able to each fire a shot on target, but all four were denied by Kean's Abigail Wing. Kean held a narrow 3-1 corner kick advantage in the contest.
