PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville men's soccer team rode a strong performance to pick up their first win of the season over Medgar Evers College, 10-0, on Saturday night.
Matt Rabadi (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay Senior),
Kendall Davis (Atlanta, Georgia/Immaculata),
Vinny Garcia (Memphis, TN/Lausanne Collegiate School),
Lucas Fernandez (Miami, Fla./Belen Jesuit),
Clark Brown (Nashville, Tenn./Hume-Fogg), and Nico del Vescovo all contributed to the victory as the Valiants moved to 1-1-0 on the season.
The first two goals of the day were tallied by Rabadi in the 12
th and 19
th minute. He also had the team's solo goal in their previous match against the Stevens Institute of Technology. The senior transfer student currently leads the team in the early going in goals on the year.
The Valiants maintained control of the ball for a majority of the contest, continuing to fire shots in the offensive end. Davis scored the third goal in the 36
th minute. Soon after in the 41
st minute, Garcia put the fourth goal on the board to keep Manhattanville ahead. Just 30 seconds later, Davis would score again as the Valiants would end the first half up 5-0 on Medgar Evers.
The second half started off quick for Manhattanville as Fernandez found the back of the net in the 46
th minute for the sixth goal of the day. Then in the 50
th minute, Brown added one as well, increasing the Valiants' lead to 7-0.
Manhattanville continued to control the game all across the pitch for most of the 90 minutes. Garcia then recorded another goal in the 65
th minute. With less than two minutes left in the match, both del Vescovo and Brown tallied goals to bring forth a 10-0 Manhattanville victory.
The Valiants took 49 shots with 24 being on goal, and the Cougars ended the match with zero shots taken.

Jostyn Blanco (Norwalk, CT/Brien Mcmahon High School) all collected their first points of the season with assists as part of the 10 tally eruption. Both
Luis Granados (Pasadena, Calif./St. Francis) and
Bert Santiago (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon) were given time in today's match as Manahttanville's goalkeepers and Louis Caiola for Medgar Evers played the full 90 minutes, had 14 saves, but allowed 10 goals.
Next week, the Valiants will be on the home pitch once again to face the RPI Engineers on Sep. 7 at 6 p.m.
