PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College women's soccer team concluded the week with a victory against Skyline Conference opponent Yeshiva University. The Valiants' 16 goals in the win are their most scored in a game since 2019, with the Valiants improving to 6-4-3 overall and 3-2-3 in Skyline Conference with the victory.
Prior to the start of the game, the Valiants wore their pink warm-up jerseys for their Breast Cancer Awareness game. The team also celebrated the final day of Hispanic Heritage Month as part of the Hispanic Heritage in partnership with Manhattanville's Latin American Student Organization.
The Valiants fired 53 total shots in the win, putting 30 on net. With 36 shot attempts in the first half, Manhattanville scored 11 times. After a Yeshiva own goal in the second minute,
Nadia Parisi (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Lakeland) scored in the following minute off an assist from
Mia Castaneda (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck). Before the first ten minutes passed, the Valiants would add goals from
Kelly Barrera (Port Chester, NY/Port Chester High School), Castaneda, Natalie Arcaena and
Jennifer Xiong (Connelly Springs, N.C./East Burke) to take a 6-0 lead. Parisi, Xiong,
Stephanie Sanchez (Rye, N.Y./The Masters School) and
Alessia Cioffi (Pawling, N.Y./Pawling) each notched assists in scoring string.
Manhattanville added five more goals before the half drew to a close. Xiong continued to be involved in the scoring for a third and fourth straight goal, scoring from Parisi in the 11
th minute before assisting
Alexa Devlin's (North Caldwell, N.J./West Essex Regional) goal in the 19
th.
Kailey Roxo (Seymour, Conn./Seymour) then scored in her second straight game from
Olivia Watson (Walden, N.Y./Valley Central) in the 35
th minute. Cioffi got into the scoring column courtesy of
Jenna Moraglia's (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) assist before
Megan Leser (Ossining, N.Y./Ossining) ended the half with a goal in the closing minute to take the 11-0 advantage.
After playing most of the first half in goal,
Macey Girard (Branford, Conn./Branford) took to the pitch in the second half as a forward, scoring the first two goals of her collegiate career in the 48
th and 50
th minutes. The tallies were assisted by Roxo and Cioffi, respectively. Moraglia then got into the goal column by way of Leser in the 53
rd minute. After Cioffi collected her sixth point of the game on her second goal from Watson in the 60
th minute, Moraglia capped off the scored by finishing a
Caela Vasilkioti (Harrison, N.Y./Harrison) feed in the 66
th. The game would then be officially called in the 71
st minute.
Girard did not see a shot in her 37:28 of play in net as she picked up her sixth win of the year. The sophomore keeper gave way to
Nicole Camacho (Bronx, N.Y./Riverdale Kingsbridge Academy) in the cage, who played a season-high 33:33 of relief.
