Women’s Soccer Erupts for Ten Goals, Sanchez Tallies First Career Hat Trick

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y.  – A seven-goal first half performance helped the Manhattanville College women's soccer team to a 10-0 victory in their final game of the regular season. The Valiants defeated the Old Westbury Panthers on Tuesday evening to improve to 8-5-3 overall on the season and 5-3-3 in Skyline Conference play.

Offensive opportunities were plentiful for the Valiants as they outshot the Panthers, 26-4. Stephanie Sanchez (Rye, N.Y./The Masters School) would record her first career hat trick to close out her rookie season, while Nadia Parisi (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Lakeland) tallied a pair of goals. Megan Leser (Ossining, N.Y./Ossining), Alessia Cioffi (Pawling, N.Y./Pawling), Daniela Perez Gonzalez (Carolina, Puerto Rico/Colegio San Antonio), Jenna Moraglia (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford), and Alexa Devlin (North Caldwell, N.J./West Essex Regional) would each score a goal for Manhattanville. Kelly Barrera (Port Chester, NY/Port Chester High School) would dish out three assists, as Parisi would notch two assists to add to her stat line. Natalie Aracena (Bronx, N.Y./Riverdale Kingsbride Academy) and Leser would each earn one assist on the night.

The Valiants would start off hot, scoring three goals within the first five minutes of play with a pair from Sanchez and one from Parisi. Sanchez would complete her hat trick at 10:11 of the game. Some time would pass before Manhattanville's next scoring opportunity which would come at 25:03 from Leser. More time would go by before Parisi's second goal at 36:14. The first half would come to a close with Cioffi's goal at 43:07. The Valiants would carry a 7-0 lead into halftime.

The second half would find Old Westbury holding possession much more than the first half but the Panthers' unable to find many scoring opportunities. On the other end of the field, Perez Gonzalez would score her first Manhattanville goal at 59:27, while Moraglia would score her first collegiate goal at 64:18. Devlin would close out scoring for the Valiants with a free kick goal at 69:37. The game would later be called and finalized at 83:59 due to darkness and the field not equipped with lights.

Manhattanville held an 8-0 advantage in corner kick opportunities on the night. Macey Girard (Branford, Conn./Branford) played the full 84 minutes with two saves as Evelyn Martel made nine saves for the Panthers, allowing ten goals.

The Valiants await to see the final results from remaining games around the conference as they currently sit in seventh place ahead of the six-team postseason tournament.
