RADNOR, Pa. – The Manhattanville College field hockey season came to a close on Wednesday afternoon as the Valiants were bested at Cabrini in the team's season finale. The 5-0 loss brings the team's final record for the 2023 campaign to 3-12 overall, finishing 0-6 in Atlantic East Conference play.
The Cavaliers netted four goals in the first half, scoring twice in each of the opening two quarters, to secure the win. Caroline Gallagher was a headache all game long for the Valiant defense as she was involved in all five scoring plays, logging eight total points with three goals and two assists. The senior accounted for both of the Cavs' first quarter tallies, scoring in the 8
th and 14
th minutes.
Gallagher completed her hat trick four and a half minutes into the second quarter off an assist by Daly Ewing. She would go on to record her first assist of the day with six minutes remaining in the half as Leany Santana's goal put the home team up 4-0 on Manhattanville.
Gallagher's dominant day concluded with one last assist 1:55 out of the half as she picked up the assist on Adrianna Jones' goal that extended Cabrini's lead up to 5-0.
The Valiants were outshot by Cabrini 29-7.
Felicity Williams (Glens Falls, N.Y./Glens Falls),
Alyssa Monahan (East Fishkill, NY/John Jay High School) and
Fiona Doherty (Clarkstown, N.Y./Clarkstown South) each finished the contest with two shot attempts.
Megan Keaveney (Clarkstown, N.Y./Clarkstown South) joined Doherty and Monahan with the team's shot on goals, each ending the game with one apiece.
Cat Morgan (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay Senior) made the start in the cage for the final game of her senior season, making five saves while surrendering four goals in 30 minutes of play. She concludes the year with a 3.94 goals-against average and a .644 save percentage. Morgan was relieved by
Florence Harrison (Melbourne, Australia/Balwyn High School) for the second half, with the junior goalkeeper making four stops while allowing one goal. Harrison ends her campaign with a 2.74 goals-against average in nine games played.
