Box Score KINGS POINT, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College men's soccer team concluded the regular season with a win on Tuesday night as the Valiants bested Saint Joseph's Brooklyn by a final of 2-1. The Valiants will enter the Skyline Conference Championship Tournament on a four-match winning streak, finishing 7-3-6 overall and 7-0-4 in conference play.

All of the match's scoring came in the first half as the attack units were able to find success in the early going. The first strike of the night would come in the ninth minute as Manuel Morales (Madrid, Spain/International College Spain) scored his fifth goal of the season on a free kick attempt that slipped past Bear netminder Christian Chimborazo. The Valiants remained in front until the 34th minute when Victor Naci received a pass from Pablo Mejia and immediately let a shot rip that beat Manhattanville's Luis Granados (Pasadena, Calif./St. Francis) to even the game up at 1-1.

Not content with giving the Valiants just one lead on the night, Morales struck again in the 40th. After Keanu Stingone (Kew Gardens, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) fired a shot that was blocked by a Bear defender, the ball found its way to the foot of Morales. The rookie once again found the back of the net to put the Valiants up 2-1 with his second career multi-goal game.

Nothing more would come from the offenses in the remainder of the half while the defensive units held firm in the second half. Saint Joseph's outshot the Valiants 15-6 in the closing 45 minutes, but Granados successfully stopped all three shots the Bears put on target in the half to preserve the win. The senior keeper finishes the regular season with a 1.08 goals-against average and an .813 save percentage to accompany his 6-2-5 record.

In total, the Valiants held a 24-21 shot advantage, putting 11 shots on goal compared to five by Saint Joseph's. Morales led the way with all four of his shot attempts going on net, joined by Demba Cham (Bronx, NY/World View High School) and Arjan Delija (Irvington, N.Y./Irvington) who also had four total shot efforts.

The Valiants also held a 5-3 advantage on the corner kick opportunities.

Following Wednesday's action around the conference closing out the regular season, namely Farmingdale State's draw against Saint Joseph's Long Island, the Valiants have officially finished atop the standings for a third-consecutive season. Manhattanville will hold the No. 1 seed and enjoy a first round bye in the Skyline Conference Championship Tournament which will get underway this weekend.
