How We Got Here
The Valiants earned hosting privileges after leading the way during the Skyline Conference regular season, going a perfect 11-0 in conference play without dropping a single set. It was the first time Manhattanville earned the No. 1 seed for the postseason tournament since 2019, the year the team earned its first-ever Skyline Conference Championship. Thanks to their unbeaten record, the Valiants not only secured a first-round bye, but also the opportunity to host both the semifinal and final rounds of the tournament as the Skyline announced a new postseason structure ahead of the start of the season.

Saint Joseph's Long Island secured the other first-round bye after a three-team tiebreaker shook out with the Golden Eagles on top. They finished 9-2 in conference play alongside USMMA and Farmingdale, who earned the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds, respectively.

Merchant Marine advanced to the semis with a three-set sweep of No. 6 Mount Saint Mary on Tuesday night, led by Meredith Buchanan logging 13 kills to pace the Mariner offense. Farmingdale, meanwhile, had their hands full in their opening round match on Tuesday, winning a five-setter over No. 5 Sarah Lawrence off a 26-kill performance by Kalena Ricketts.

The Valiants saw all three of the other teams still standing in Kennedy Gymnasium earlier this season. While it had been a while since Manhattanville saw any of them—the most recent matchup amongst the three was Oct. 12's win over Saint Joseph's—each team arrives to Purchase looking to knock off the defending conference champs.
