PURCHASE, N.Y. – A five-goal first period by the Farmingdale State College Rams was enough to upend the Manhattanville College women's lacrosse team on Saturday afternoon, 13-4. With the loss, the Valiants end the regular season, 12-4 with a 5-3 record in Skyline Conference play. They find themselves in fourth place heading into the postseason this coming week.
Prior to the start of Saturday's contest, the Valiants honored the senior class for their contributions to the program both on and off the field.
Kerry Carr (New Hartford, N.Y./Millbrook School),
Marisa D'Angelo (Wantagh, N.Y./MacArthur),

The Rams would get on the board first with five goals to start the game, two coming from Megan Diamond. They would hold the Valiants scoreless through the first 15 minutes of play, only allowing two shots.
It would be a back-and-forth affair in the second period as Manhattanville would find themselves in an extra-player opportunity and
Maura Kelly (Stratford, Conn./Bunnell) would score her first of the day with 13:06 remaining in the first half. Diamond would respond with another goal before Ashley Codispoti would tally her second for the Rams. With 8:34 remaining,
Marisa D'Angelo (Wantagh, N.Y./MacArthur) would find the back of the net after receiving a dish from

Maura Kelly (Stratford, Conn./Bunnell) would score with six minutes remaining. Rams would stay in the lead, 8-3 heading into halftime.
Farmingdale State's momentum would lead them through the rest of the contest as they started the second half with a goal from Athena Vogiatzis. Carr would get her one and only goal of the day to bring the score back within five. Molly Espey would score twice as Vogiatzis would add another to increase the Rams' lead, 12-4.
In the fourth quarter, the Valiants were held to 11 shots and no goals as the Rams had six shots. Regulation would also start just as it had ended with a goal from Farmingdale State's Diamond. Manhattanville would be kept off the scoreboard through the final 28:41 of action as the Rams would take home the win and secure the No. 3 seed for the conference tournament as the Valiants would get bumped to the No. 4 seed.
