Box Score KINGS POINT, N.Y. - The Manhattanville College men's soccer team played to a 0-0 draw against Skyline foe United States Merchant Marine on Saturday afternoon at Brooks Stadium. The scoreless affair moves the Valiants' record to 2-3-4 overall and 2-0-2 in conference action.
The Valiants fired off 18 shots against a stout defensive back line of the Mariners, three of which were on target.
Merchant Marine had totaled seven shots, with two going on goal. Senior netminder Luis Granados (Pasadena, Calif./St. Francis) collected two more saves on the season to bring his total to 42, with a 0.792 save percentage.
Despite the shot discrepancy, the Mariners were credited with the first shot on goal of the day. Andrew Jung fired a shot to the net, with Granados parrying it away. Shortly after, Jason Healey hit a strike at the California native for his second save.
The Valiants found their first scoring opportunity in the 38th minute after Trevor Henderson's (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) strike rattled off the crossbar and out of play. Cole Weiner (Saint James, N.Y./Smithtown H.S. East) had his attempt saved by Ashton Carey, seeing the halftime whistle blow.
The following scoring chance came late into the second half when Demba Cham (Bronx, NY/World View High School) had his chance hit the post in the 82nd, having the final score showing a Nil-Nil draw.
Manhattanville held the corner kick advantage, 5-3, with the Valiants being charged with 13 fouls compared to the Mariners 11.
