Men’s Lacrosse Secures 16-14 Comeback Win over Dean

PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College men's lacrosse team kept rolling on Wednesday evening as they defeated Dean College, 16-14 in comeback fashion. With the victory, the Valiants are 3-0 to begin the season for the first time since 2019.

Less than two minutes into regulation, Sean Larkin (White Plains, N.Y./White Plains) would open scoring for the Valiants, netting his first at 1:52. The Bulldogs would then go on to score four straight from Diego Alvarez-Segee, Jason Richard, Owen Brine, and Manny Alvarez-Segee to close out the first quarter, leading 4-1.

Dean would find their most success behind the duo of Diego and Manny Alvarez-Segee as they scored back-to-back goals to begin the second quarter. The Valiants would respond with three of their own from Michael Swift (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle), Larkin, and Nick Cornelia (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) as they trailed 6-4. M. Alvarez-Segee would once again find the back of the net for the Bulldogs before Drew Palladino (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh) would fire off one of his own at 12:37, Dean up 7-5 at the half.

To start the second half at 1:11, Dean's Brine would find the back of the net for his second of the night to capitalize on their lead. Palladino would respond with another to keep the Valiants within two, a Manhattanville lead still in reach. It would then be back and forth goals from M. Alvarez-Segee and Palladino before a pair of Bulldog goals would insure a four-point cushion. Dash Munson (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield) would score his first of the night at 12:10 for the Valiants but not long before the Bulldogs would gain their biggest lead as the third quarter was winding down, D. Alvarez-Segee scoring a pair of goals for a 13-8 lead.

It would be a dominant final quarter for the Valiants offensively as they scored seven goals through the final 15 minutes. Munson would get the party started followed by a pair from Frank Tallerico (Monroe Township, N.J./Monroe Township) to bring it back within two. One goal would be given up to Brine at 5:46 before five straight goals would come from the Valiants. Larkin would lead the charge scoring at 10:29 then dishing out an assist on Cornelia's second of the night, then scoring once again to tie it up, 14-14. Palladino would get the 15-14 lead at 12:46 as Munson would score to secure the win at 13:44. Manhattanville would bring it home with a 16-14 comeback victory.
