Valiants Strike Twice to Claim the 2–1 Win in Farmingdale

Farmingdale, N.Y. — The Manhattanville men's soccer team battled to an explosive 2–1 victory over Farmingdale State College on Saturday afternoon, securing another key Skyline Conference win on the road.

After a scoreless first half marked by solid possession and multiple attacking chances from Roberto Velasquez-Osorio (Monticello, N.Y./Monticello), Griffin Van Cott (Goshen, N.Y./Goshen), David Trujillo (Tampa, Fla./Plant), Johnny Antolino (Harrison, N.Y./Harrison), Nickolas Pagan (Valley Stream, N.Y./Valley Stream North), in the first half adding on Luis Del Riego (Madrid, Spain/Rafa Nadal International), Alex Rojas (Mastic, N.Y./William Floyd), and Aidan Sivio in the second. The Valiants broke through in the 66th minute. Alex Rojas (Mastic, N.Y./William Floyd) found the back of the net off a clean setup from Guido Sarango (Syracuse, N.Y./Nottingham), giving Manhattanville the crucial 1–0 lead.

Just under ten minutes later, the Valiants doubled their advantage. In the 76th minute, Roberto Velasquez-Osorio (Monticello, N.Y./Monticello) finished off a precise ball from Luis Del Riego (Madrid, Spain/Rafa Nadal International), pushing the lead to 2–0 and capping off a sharp attack.

Farmingdale State responded late, cutting the deficit to 2–1 in the 86th minute on a goal from Lucca Noboa. Despite the pressure, Manhattanville's back line held firm over the closing moments, with goalkeeper AJ Lucas (Beacon, N.Y./Beacon) coming up clutch, marking three saves from 19 shots, seven being on goal to preserve the victory.

Manhattanville out shot the Rams 19–11 and controlled possession for much of the contest utilizing eight corner kicks. The Valiants' disciplined defensive effort, paired with timely offensive execution, secured the hard-earned road result.
