PATCHOUGE, N.Y. – Manhattanville women's soccer gave up two unanswered goals following a penalty kick goal from Drita Tinaj (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) in the 2-1 loss against Saint Joseph (L.I.) Saturday afternoon.
Manhattanville moves to 3-6 (2-3 SKY) while Saint Joseph's (L.I.) strengthens its winning percentage, sitting at 7-2-1 (5-1 SKY)
FIRST HALF – MANHATTANVILLE 1, SJL 1
The Valiants struck first with a penalty kick goal from Tinaj at the '27. Macey Girard (Branford, Conn./Branford) kept the game tied with six saves in the first half as her defensive line assisted in deflecting the fourteen shots in the first half of gameplay.
The Golden Eagles answered with a goal of its own at '28 from Abigail Butler.
SECOND HALF – SJL 2, MANHATTANVILLE 1
The away team found their way into the box, fighting to earn an additional corner kick and three shots without finding the back of the net.
SJL scored the game-winning goal off the cleat of CC Rosario, securing their fifth straight victory.
