Men's Soccer Dominate in 5-0 Shutout Over Sarah Lawrence

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville University men's soccer team put together a complete performance on both sides of the ball Tuesday night, rolling to a commanding 5–0 victory over Sarah Lawrence College. The Valiants controlled the tempo from kickoff, firing off a relentless attack that overwhelmed the Gryphons and secured their third conference win.

The Valiants wasted no time asserting themselves in the opening half. In the 17th minute, Roberto Velasquez-Osorio (Monticello, N.Y./Monticello) broke the deadlock with a clean finish off a well-placed assist from Manuel Morales (Madrid, Spain/International College Spain). Just two minutes later, Manhattanville doubled its lead when Alec Pineda (Yonkers, N.Y./Port Chester) converted a feed from Kenneth Suqui (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y./Sleepy Hollow), pushing the score to 2–0. The Valiants continued to press high, generating multiple corners and shots throughout the half, while goalkeeper AJ Lucas (Beacon, N.Y./Beacon) stood firm, making key saves to preserve the shutout heading into the break.

Coming out of halftime, Manhattanville's dominance only grew. The Valiants' midfield dictated possession, while the defense—anchored by Alex Bacchiocchi (Groton, Conn./Fitch) and Guido Sarango (Syracuse, N.Y./Nottingham)—kept the Gryphons without a clear look on goal. After several near chances, the breakthrough came again in the 61st minute when David Trujillo (Tampa, Fla./Plant) capitalized on a rebound from Lucas Fernandez (Stamford, Conn./Stamford) to extend the lead to 3–0.

The floodgates opened from there. In the 79th minute, Griffin Van Cott (Goshen, N.Y./Goshen) netted his first of the season off a precise assist from Phil-Oneil Beadle (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica/Mount Vernon Steam Academy), giving the Valiants a 4–0 cushion. Just eight minutes later, Nico Del Vescovo (Flanders, N.J./Mount Olive) sealed the victory with a composed finish assisted by Velasquez-Osorio, capping a five-goal statement performance.

Lucas finished the night with three saves to earn the shutout, while Manhattanville outshot Sarah Lawrence 28 to seven with 16 shots on goal compared to the Gryphons three shots on goal controlling the offensive from start to finish.

Manhattanville returns to action this Saturday at home against St. Joseph's University Brooklyn at 3 PM.
