DANBURY, Conn. – Andrew Saint-Louis (Norwalk, Conn./Notre Dame Fairfield) recorded a career high 34 points while the men's basketball team dropped its first away matchup of the season 83-76 at William A. O'Neill Center on Wednesday evening.
While the lead was passed between the teams, the away team held it for over 32 minutes. The Wolves (2-0) capitalized on the Valiants' (1-1) 21 turnovers, scoring 31 points off them and pushing to the victory.
Following 34 from Saint-Louis, Chris Robinson (Bedford-Stuyvesant, N.Y./Westminster School) and Isiah Middleton (Miami, Fla./Westminster Christian) reached double digits, scoring 12 and 14, respectively. Tayejon Lynch led West Conn with 20 points on 9-of-12 shooting, while the bench outscored the Vals 27-0.
How It Happened
First Half: Manhattanville 44, West Conn 36
The Valiants jumped out to a 20-13 lead, fronted by an early 10 points from Saint-Louis. West Conn went on an 8-6 run to bring the game within two, beginning a back-and-forth game before Manhattanville jumped back out by eight (40-32) with under three to play.
The remainder of the first half was evened out with four apiece, sending the away team to the locker room up by eight.
Second Half: West Conn 83, Manhattanville 76
West Conn came out in the second half, outscoring Manhattanville 36-28 through the first sixteen minutes in the second half, forcing the first tie of the game at 72. Lynch and Saint-Louis led the run for their respective squads with 12 points each.
The Wolves grabbed its first lead of the game on a free throw from Jaysean Morgan. In the final 3:30 of gameplay, the home team pushed the score out on an 11-4 run to secure the 2-0 start.
