Women's Hockey Finishes Runner Up at 2025 Codfish Bowl

BOSTON, Mass. – A three-goal first period by the opposition was too much for the Manhattanville University women's hockey team to overcome on Sunday evening as the Valiants fell to RV/No. 15 Bowdoin College in the finals of the 2025 Codfish Bowl. The Valiants will end November with a 2-4-1 overall record with two games left to play in the first half of the season.

The Polar Bears' nationally ranked offense was buzzing in the first period as Bowdoin scored three times on its nine shots on goal. All three Bowdoin goals game in a six and a half minute stretch with Ava Provenzo starting the scoring 11:30 into the period from Elena DiMagno and Elizabeth Kent. Four minutes later, Bella Mele doubled the Polar Bear lead before Kendrick LaPrade made it a 3-0 lead for Bowdoin at 18:02 to put the Valiants in a hole the team could not fight out of.

After the first period, Olivia Cimorelli (West Deptford, N.J./The Hill School / Ironbound Elite) settled in for the Valiants, making 20 saves across the second and third to keep the game within reach. The sophomore finished with 26 total saves in the loss.

Catrina Chinetti (Hyde Park, Mass./Boston Latin Academy / East Coast Wizards) broke up the Polar Bear shutout bid with her first goal of the season with 10:56 left in the third period. After Mele was sent to the penalty box for interference, it took the Valiants just four seconds to capitalize on the power play. Bowdoin won the ensuing faceoff but the Valiants were quick to gain possession as a series of quick passes from Sasha Jacobson (Hanover, Mass./Brewster Academy) and Danika Aubin (Guy, Alberta, Canada/Northern Alberta Xtreme (CSSHL)) set up Chinetti for the score.

Manhattanville would be unable to build off the momentum from the goal, held to just one shot from Erin Flaherty (Rockland, Mass./Canterbury School) that was blocked away over the final nine minutes of play. The Polar Bears tacked on an insurance goal with 3:34 left to play from Bea Palmer as Bowdoin closed out the game to capture the 2025 Codfish Bowl.

Chinetti was one of four Valiants to finish with a team-leading two shots on goal, joined by yesterday's hero Taylor Willoughby (Camrose, Alberta, Canada/Northern Alberta Extreme), Sasha Jacobson (Hanover, Mass./Brewster Academy) and Katherine Stahl (Middletown, R.I./Middletown).

The Polar Bears dominated the faceoff circle, winning 32 of the game's 44 draws. Manhattanville was led by Jada Mackinnon (Barrington, Nova Scotia, Canada/King's Edgehill School) on the dot, finishing with five wins.

The Valiants finished 1-for-3 on the power play, scoring once on three shots. Manhattanville held Bowdoin scoreless across the Polar Bears' two power play opportunities, allowing three shots.
