Scoring Frenzy Boosts Men’s Basketball to First-Half Home Finale Win

PURCHASE, N.Y. – Manhattanville men's basketball shut down Medgar Evers 84-48 in the first half home finale on Sunday afternoon. The Valiants even out to 4-4 while the Cougars drop to 0-8 (0-1 CUNYAC).

Daniel Marinaccio (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph By The Sea) led the way for the Valiants with a career-high 15 points, going 6-for-10 in the field and knocking down two early from long. The senior guard added one assist and pressed the Cougars for two steals on the day.

Classmate Chris Robinson (Bedford-Stuyvesant, N.Y./Westminster School) followed close behind, putting up 12 points of his own. The Bedford-Stuyvesant native co-led the team with eight rebounds while adding to his team-leading tally with one block as well as dishing out three.

Tied up with eight apiece were Andrew Saint-Louis (Norwalk, Conn./Notre Dame Fairfield) and John Ranaghan (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) to follow behind Robinson. Saint-Louis pulled down six rebounds while Ranaghan grabbed five, and both starters sent out one assist each. Antonio Del Vescovo (Mount Olive, N.J./Mount Olive) reached new heights with a career-high seven while co-leading the team with eight rebounds and walking away with one steal.

Adding six to the scoreboard, grabbing four boards, and throwing out two assists, Isiah Middleton (Miami, Fla./Westminster Christian) was next in line. Carlos Urena (Corona, N.Y./Monsignor McClancy) shot 50% from three to post his six points during the game, followed closely by Jack Maloney (Tappan, N.Y./Tappan Zee), who threw down five.

Leading the team in assists on the day with four, Andrew Melillo (Staten Island, N.Y./Monsignor Farrell) pulled away with two steals, four rebounds, and tallied four points. Tyler Kuhn (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park), Curtis Staie (Adams, N.Y./South Jefferson), Jack Quinn (Greenwich, Conn./The Winchendon School), and Neven Noor (Pomona, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) found their way to the basket, pushing hard through the paint to add to the scoreboard.

Nasir Emery (White Plains, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) and Triston Marrero (Haverstraw, N.Y./North Rockland) made their collegiate debuts, each finding the scoresheet for the first time. 15 Valiants added to the 84 points on the day, the most to do so in the last 10 seasons.

Michael Perez led scoring for the Cougars, knocking in 16 while also forcing two steals in his 30 minutes on the court. Ahmen Toure was a standout on defense, blocking four shots and tallying six total rebounds.

Up Next – The Valiants close out the first half heading on the road to face John Jay (2-6) first on Tuesday, Dec 9, followed by the final game in 2025 against conference opponent Yeshiva (1-6) on Saturday, Dec 13.
