Men's Lacrosse Falls in Non-Conference Finale to Marymount

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Manhattanville University men's lacrosse team closed out non-conference play for the 2025 season on Saturday, falling to Marymount 24-12 in a road contest. The Valiants now turn attention to the Skyline, carrying a 1-8 overall record into conference play.

Sean Larkin (White Plains, N.Y./White Plains) scored his first of three goals on the day just over two minutes into the contest before the Saints scored six straight goals to take a lead Marymount never surrendered. Michael Swift (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) snapped the home squad's goal run by closing out the first quarter scoring with a tally nine seconds before the horn.

Manhattanville played well to open up the second quarter to get back to within two goals. The Valiants struck first for the second-straight stanza as Dom Janavey (Shrub Oak, N.Y./Lakeland) recorded his 11th goal of the season from a Swift assist following a Saint penalty. Mason Vandawater reestablished Marymount's four-goal lead 34 seconds after Janavey's strike, but the Vals once again made the Saints pay for a penalty as Larkin netted a man-up goal by way of Nick Corace (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) with 11:06 left in the half. Corace would get into the goal column two and a half minutes later with an assist to Swift, pulling the Valiants within two at a 7-5 deficit.

Marymount's Gavin Taylorson and Manhattanville's Tyler Berch (Syosset, N.Y./Syosset) traded the next two blows to make it an 8-6 game with five minutes left in the half. The Saints took over, scoring five times before halftime to grab a 13-6 lead.

The Marymount attack continued deep into the third as the Saints scored five more unanswered goals to begin the second half, going up 18-6 through six minutes. Swift brought an end to the Saints' 10-0 run with his second of the day with 6:29 to play in the third. Marymount added on two more goals from Kai Goo and Ian Fructuoso, and while Larkin was able to earn a hat trick in the closing minute of the quarter, it did little to cut into the Saints' 20-8 lead.

Manhattanville received fourth quarter goals from Drew Palladino (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh) and Corace while Swift tacked on two more for his season-high four goal performance. Swift added the assist on Palladino's tally to close out a seven-point day, while Berch added the helper on Swift's earlier fourth quarter notch.

Joe Ulzheimer (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) faced a constant barrage of attempts in the Valiant net, facing 48 total shots in his 40:10 in the cage. The junior made 15 saves while surrendering 20 goals. Mike Hopkins (Bedford, N.Y./Fox Lane) played the final 19:50 of the game, allowing four goals and logging five stops.

Ulzheimer finished with five ground balls to lead Manhattanville, while Chris Gagnano scooped up four. The Valiants' FOGO tandem of Aaron Goldstein (Walden, N.Y./Valley Central) and Nick Padovani (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) added a combined five grounders, with Goldstein collecting three while winning five faceoffs and Padovani earning two with his six wins on the draw. Michael Karabinchak (Piscataway, N.J./Saint Joseph Metuchen) also went on to finish the day with two ground balls.

Nine different Manhattanville players forced a Saint turnover.
