FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – The 2025 Manhattanville men's lacrosse season reached its end on Tuesday evening with the fourth-seeded Valiants' Skyline Conference Championship semifinals loss to No. 1 Farmingdale State. Manhattanville will officially send the year with a 5-12 overall record following the Valiants' second-straight postseason appearance.
A rematch of Saturday's regular season finale, Tuesday's tilt opened in a similar fashion as the weekend's battle. An even first 15 minutes between the two sides saw Andrew Giovinco put the home side up a pair to begin play. The Valiants worked their way back against the defending conference champs as
Michael Swift (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) and
Tyler Berch (Syosset, N.Y./Syosset) each found the twine in a span of 1:53 to tie things up at 2-2 with 6:05 left in the opening period.
Manhattanville's momentum continued as
Dom Janavey (Shrub Oak, N.Y./Lakeland) put the Valiants ahead after the senior scored off a
Drew Palladino (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh) pass for his 23
rd goal of the season. Thomas Stock fired in the equalizer before quarter's end to send the game into the second tied at 3-3.
Despite the Valiants' great effort to match the Rams stride-for-stride, Farmingdale displayed their explosive attack in full force with an eight-goal second quarter that firmly swung control of the contest into the hands of the home team. Farmingdale scored three straight goals to open the new quarter before Berch connected on his second goal of the affair, number 29 on the season. Thomas Stock reestablished the three-goal Farmingdale advantage before
Nick Corace (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville), returning to action form injury for the first time since March 29, brought Manhattanville back to within two with 8:32 left in the half.
Farmingdale broke things open with four final goals to close out the second quarter. The Rams would add all three tallies in the third and tack on four more unanswered in the fourth as part of an 11-0 run that stretched close to 31 minutes of game time.
Jake Strobel (White Plains, N.Y./White Plains) was able to put the Valiants on the board in the second half with his sixth of the year with 1:04 left in regulation.
Joe Ulzheimer (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) closed the book on his junior campaign as the Valiants' leading netminder, making 13 saves in the start. With his first save of the night against Stock 1:30 into the contest, Ulzheimer reached 500 saves for his career, becoming just the seventh goalie in program history to reach that mark.
Manning the X one last time,
Nick Padovani (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) won five faceoffs for the Valiants, ending his collegiate career with 584 wins on the draw. The graduate faceoff specialist departs with a program-record 72 games played.
Aaron Goldstein (Walden, N.Y./Valley Central) also added five faceoff wins for Manhattanville.
Tim Beahm (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) and
Mike Mooney (Tappan, N.Y./Tappan Zee) finished with four ground balls each to lead the Valiants. Beahm also caused a pair of turnovers, a total matched by
Francisco Rosas (Stratford, Conn./Stratford).
Farmingdale will look to repeat as Skyline champions on Friday when the Rams take on No. 2 USMMA in the tournament finals.
