Baseball Concludes Campaign with Loss to Farmingdale State in Skyline First Round

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. - Wrapping up the 2025 season, the Manhattanville University baseball team fell against the third-seeded Rams, 5-1, on Wednesday evening in the first round of the Skyline Conference Championship Tournament. With the result, the Valiants finish the season with an overall record of 20-20, for back-to-back twenty-win seasons.

Farmingdale was able to chase the Valiant hurler into a hole early in the contest after the Rams led off with an infield single. Richie Heyder followed that with a tripled into the alley of right center, scoring the runner from first for a 1-0 lead. A subsequent single to right field by Jordan Lambert drove in another run, putting the margin at 2-0, and seeing the Rams never relinquish that lead.

The Valiants were able to cut the deficit in half with a leadoff single from Brian Brezosky (Garnerville, N.Y./North Rockland) to put a runner on the basepath. Brezosky would swipe second base in the next at-bat, and made the trip around the bases thanks to a single from Mike Ambrosecchia (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) down the right field line gave the Valiants their only run of the ballgame, 2-1.

The contest would hold that tie until the top of the sixth when the Valiants had an oppourinity to blow the game open, as they found themselves in a bases loaded situation with no outs, leading to Michael Camardi taking the bump for Farmingdale to produce three straight outs to shut the door and hold Manhattanville to no runs.

Farmingdale added to their lead in the next time up to bat, after a leadoff single from Heyder, making way to second base from a sacrifice bunt. Lambert would drive in his second run of the game with a towering triple to the wall in center, for a 3-1 margin. Farmingdale played some more small ball to bring home Lambert from third with a sacrifice bunt, putting the game at 4-1.

Farmingdale found their final run of the contest in the bottom seventh, producing another sacrifice at-bat, this time a sacrifice fly from Patrick Dallas, for the fifth and final run of the contest.

Tyler DiRocco would come in to put an end to the game, forcing the final three outs for the Valiants to end their 2025 campaign.

Ryan McCann (Medford, N.Y./Longwood) produced his season-high strikeout total in the six and one-third innings pitched, punching out eight batters to also match his career-high mark.

Gregory Esposito (Katonah, N.Y./John Jay) came in for relief of McCann, pitching one and two-thirds innings, allowing only one hit.

Ambrosecchia finished the day with a 2-for-4 mark, driving in the only run for the Valiants. Six other Valiants also tallied one hit in the contest.
