Tinaj Hat Trick Pushes Women's Soccer to Victory to Open Conference Play

PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville women's soccer team began the 2025 Skyline Conference season with a stat-sheet-stuffing victory, 12-0, over Yeshiva University on Thursday night at GoValiants.com Field.
 
The Valiants (2-3-0) earn its second victory, while the Maccabees move to 0-6-0.
 
 
FIRST HALF – Manhattanville University 7, Yeshiva University 0
 

The Valiants scored its first goal ten minutes into the match off the foot of Drita Tinaj (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) before she acted again at 15' and secured her first career hat trick at 19'.

 
Continuing to tally on, Deanna Lage (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Lakeland) found the back of the net for her second goal of the season.
 
Ashley Irmscher (Saint James, N.Y./Smithtown East) snatched her first of the season with a successful corner kick at 21'.
 
Graduate student Gianna Cuffari (Stony Point, N.Y./North Rockland) grabbed her first goal at home in a Manhattanville uniform from Lage.
 
Adding to the firsts, Macey Girard (Branford, Conn./Branford) found her way to her first goal since the 2023 season after departing the cage with 21 minutes played as the starting keeper, where she recorded two against Yeshiva on Oct. 15, 2023.
 
YU goalkeeper, Maayan Berkowitz, recorded eleven saves in the first half.
 

SECOND HALF –

Johanna Gibson (Brooklyn, N.Y./Edward R Murrow)
started the second half clutching her third goal of the year.
 
Grabbing her first collegiate goal with a strong shot to the top-left shelf, Caela Vasilkioti (Harrison, N.Y./Harrison) stretched the lead out to nine.
 
The Valiants reached double-digits with a goal from Nadia Parisi (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Lakeland), assists from Vasilkioti and Alessia Cioffi (Pawling, N.Y./Pawling).
 
Irmscher secured a second goal of the game off of another successful corner kick.
 
Avery Edwards (Sparrowbush, N.Y./Port Jervis) sent Cioffi to find her first of the night at the 82-minute mark.
 
For YU, Berkowitz recorded eighteen saves in the match.
 
Game Notes
 
- Manhattanville held Yeshiva to zero shots while recording 70 of its own.
- Alexa Bennett (Sparrowbush, N.Y./Port Jervis) recorded a career-high 69 minutes in the goal.
- Nine Valiants contributed to the scoreboard. Five coming off the sidelines.
- Stephanie Sanchez (Rye, N.Y./The Masters School) recorded three assists to move into the team-lead for the season and tying the program's single-game record. It was the 19th time a Valiant dished out three helpers in a match, the first since Sanchez herself last year against Maritime on Oct. 18.
- In addition to 12 goals, Manhattanville grabbed 12 assists.

The Valiants remain at home to face the Red Hawks of Montclair State University on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025. The match is set for a 4 PM kickoff.
