Mahwah, NJ. – Manhattanville men's soccer dropped a hard-fought battle, 0-1, against Montclair on Sunday night.
The Valiants move to 2-2-0 while the Red Hawks (3-0-1) continue the season without a loss.
FIRST HALF – Montclair State University 1, Manhattanville University 0
The Valiants found its way into the box for four attempts to the back of the net in the first half. Shots came from David Trujillo (Tampa, Fla./Plant) (2), Alec Pineda (Yonkers, N.Y./Port Chester) , and Nickolas Pagan (Valley Stream, N.Y./Valley Stream North) .
The Red Hawks scored the only goal with a high-center shot from Danny Tobon at just under the seven-minute mark.
SECOND HALF – Montclair State University 1, Manhattanville University 0
Both the Valiants and the Red Hawks held strong on the defensive ends to keep either team from affecting the scoreboard. AJ Lucas (Beacon, N.Y./Beacon) controlled the net in the second half with five saves on five shots faced. The Defensive line blocked an additional two shots from reaching Lucas.
Manhattanville fought for four corners and posted three additional shots in the second 45 minutes, coming from Luis Del Riego (Madrid, Spain/Rafa Nadal International) , Johnny Antolino (Harrison, N.Y./Harrison) , and Lucas Fernandez (Stamford, Conn./Stamford) .
