Saint-Louis Posts 21 to Push Men's Basketball over UMSV 82-64

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – 21 points from Andrew Saint-Louis (Norwalk, Conn./Notre Dame Fairfield) and a dominant second half led the Manhattanville University men's basketball team to an 82-64 victory over Mount Saint Vincent on Wednesday night. The Valiants improve to 8-6 (3-2 SKY) while the Dolphins fall to 2-12 (1-4 SKY).

Saint-Louis matched his career high against UMSV with 21 and led the team in assists with six to push the Valiants over the Dolphins. Isiah Middleton (Miami, Fla./Westminster Christian) followed close behind with 17 points, going 7-for-11 from inside the arc, grabbing six boards, and knocking down one block.
Chris Robinson (Bedford-Stuyvesant, N.Y./Westminster School) fronted the team in rebounds with seven and steals with three while knocking down 2-of-5 three-point attempts towards his 14 points. John Ranaghan (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) was the final Valiant of the night to put up points in the double digits with 12. The senior also dished out three assists and took away two steals.

The Dolphins were led offensively by Alec Chi, posting 17 points and four assists. Joel Gado fronted the home team with eight rebounds, and Louis Vidal took away two steals.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Valiants struck fast with a steal from Saint-Louis, which turned into Middleton slamming in a dunk for the first points of the game. Ranaghan led an even 14-14 run with eight points over the next eight minutes before a jumper from the Dolphins evened out the score at 16.
Manhattanville held a slight advantage in the second half of the first 20 minutes of gameplay, pushing ahead on a 19-15 run to send the teams to the locker rooms up 35-31.
Seven from Carlos Urena (Corona, N.Y./Monsignor McClancy) gave the Vals a spark in the first six minutes of the second half to jump ahead 51-39 for their biggest lead thus far. UMSV battled back to push the game within eight, 68-60, with under four minutes to go. A block from Andrew Melillo (Staten Island, N.Y./Monsignor Farrell) gave the change of momentum needed to halt the home team. A layup and a pair from the line from Saint-Louis then secured the victory, 82-63.

UP NEXT – The Valiants return home Saturday, Jan 17, to face Farmingdale at 1 PM.
