Men's Soccer Has Five-Game Winning Streak Snapped vs SJLI

PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville University men's soccer team were halted offensively in its first conference loss of the season, 3-1, to St. Joesph's Long Island. The Valiants drop its second game of the year, sitting at 9-2-3, 6-1 Skyline, while the Golden Eagles earn its third victory of the season (3-5-2, 3-3-1 Skyline).

The Valiants struggled to create offensive opportunities through the first half of play, only producing one shot on target.

The Golden Eagles struck first after three consecutive shots towards goal. Dwayne Brown II (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) made the first save before the goal scorer sent off the first shot into the defense and sent the ricocheted ball into the net. The second goal came seven minutes later off the same foot; rocketing into the back corner after sending the goalkeeper into a split.

Alec Pineda (Yonkers, N.Y./Port Chester) broke through the drought, sending the ball to the back left-hand side of the net on a penalty kick to evade the shutout.

The visitors tallied on an additional goal off a free kick. The final goal of the match was scored in similar fashion to the first goal, after the ball was saved, it was sent to the crossbar before Jack Deutsch earned the hat trick against the Valiants.
