PURCHASE, N.Y. – A fourth quarter goal from Kiera Guinan pushed Manhattanville University field hockey over Gordon College on Wednesday afternoon. The Valiants (5-6) continue to battle to .500 while the Fighting Scots fall to 1-12.

Emma Masie (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) got things going for the Valiants, capitalizing on a feed from Guinan to send the ball around the keeper into the back left corner.
Gordon answered three minutes after the first goal of the day with an unassisted wrap-around to tie the game.
Mariella Manicchio (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y./Ossining) sent the ball cross-cage for Shannon Keena (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) to knock in; allowing the Valiants to regain the lead for the remainder of the first quarter. Hannah Doherty (Clarkstown, N.Y./Clarkstown South) racked up six saves in the second quarter to keep the home team ahead going into halftime.
The Fighting Scots struck again in the third quarter, tying the game with just over a quarter to play.
With less than eight minutes in regulation, Guinan fought through the recovering defense to find her way around the goalie. The goal marked her second game-winner of the season as well as pushing her into double-digits with 10 goals.
