Robinson Leads Men's Basketball to Comeback Thriller

PURCHASE, N.Y. – Chris Robinson (Bedford-Stuyvesant, N.Y./Westminster School) led the Manhattanville University men's basketball team to a 69-60 comeback victory over Mount Saint Mary on Tuesday night in Kennedy Gymnasium. The Valiants even out to 11-11 (6-7 Skyline) while the Saints fall to 2-20 (0-13 Skyline).

Robinson dropped a season-high 23 points on nine from the field and two from beyond the arc. The senior also tallied five boards, dished out six assists, took away two steals, and threw down an electric block in the final few minutes of the game.
Isiah Middleton (Miami, Fla./Westminster Christian) led the team in rebounds with nine, six coming on the Saints' side of the court. Middleton took away a steal and recorded 13 points. Andrew Saint-Louis (Norwalk, Conn./Notre Dame Fairfield) was next in the queue with eight rebounds, a steal, and 12 points. Carlos Urena (Corona, N.Y./Monsignor McClancy) was the final Valiant to reach double-digits with 11 points, three boards, and three assists.
The Valiants outlasted the Saints with clean defense, committing only 10 fouls while drawing 15.
Mount Saint Mary was led by J.P. Egan across the court. Egan recorded 14 points and 14 rebounds, while dishing out three and taking two steals.

Daniel Marinaccio (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph By The Sea) got the ball rolling for the second game in the women's/men's doubleheader with a long ball. Scoring went back and forth before the teams met at 10. MSM went on a 16-3 run over the next three minutes to grab their largest lead of the game, 26-13.
Fronted with five from Urena, Manhattanville continued to battle back with a 10-4 run with under six remaining in the first half. The Valiants continued to chip away at the deficit, ultimately coming within four heading to the locker rooms down 37-33.
The home team kept the momentum up, coming out for the final 20 minutes, going on an 11-5 run in the first five minutes, topped off by another one from outside the arc from Marinaccio to regain a slim lead of 44-42.
Following the three, Robinson turned his second steal of the game into a dunk that fired up the crowd and gave his squad an energy shift for the better.
Robinson led the remainder of the second half with nine points, and Urena was close behind with six to shut down the Saints and reach the final victory of 69-60. In the second half, the Valiants held the Saints to just 5.9% from three with only 1-of-17 falling compared to the 50% seen in the first 20 minutes.
