PURCHASE, N.Y. – Gabby Tucker (Port Chester, N.Y./Blind Brook) of women's basketball and
Chris Robinson (Bedford-Stuyvesant, N.Y./Westminster School) of men's basketball have earned the Valiant of the Week titles for the week ending on Feb. 22 as they wrapped their regular seasons.
Tucker combined for 32 points with eight assists and nine boards. On senior day Saturday against Mount Saint Mary, she picked up her 100th game played for the Valiants. With one of her top performances from the field, 8-for-14, she also put the pressure on for three steals.
Women's basketball has clinched the number one seed going into the tournament. With a bye in the first round, they will play the winner of Farmingdale vs SJLI on Friday at Kennedy.
Robinson put up 33 points across the two games, adding six steals, seven rebounds, and a block. In the crucial conference win over Sarah Lawrence, he put 14 points towards the board while also tying his season high with four steals and dishing out two assists. On his senior day against Mount Saint Vincent, he posted his best all-around shooting of the season, going 7-for-10 from the field and 2-for-3 from beyond the arc.
Men's basketball jumped to the sixth seed heading into conference play. The Valiants will be on the road against Sarah Lawrence on Wednesday Feb 25, at 7 PM.
