Women's Hockey Drops Inaugural Meeting Against Albertus Magnus

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Meeting on the ice for the first time ever, the Manhattanville University women's hockey team fell 3-0 at Albertus Magnus on Friday evening to open the weekend home-and-home series. The Valiants see their two-game winning streak come to an end with the loss, falling to 4-15-1 overall and 4-5-0 in UCHC play, while the Falcons continue to soar in the program's third season, climbing to 13-6-1 overall and 6-3-0 in the UCHC.

Albertus scored twice in the first period, getting tallies from Alana Laser and Molly Martin as the Falcons outshot Manhattanville 9-3 across the opening 20 minutes. The Valiants were limited to just 15 shots overall in the contest, unable to solve the puzzle in the crease that was Christmas Johnson. The junior goalie earned her second shutout of the season with the win.

Manhattanville generated the majority of their offensive chances in the second period, firing eight pucks on net, but were unable to chip away at the deficit. Martin struck again six minutes into the third period with her second power play goal of the game to ice the contest as the Valiants were held to four shots in the final stanza.

Olivia Cimorelli (West Deptford, N.J./The Hill School / Ironbound Elite) made 25 saves in the Valiant net. The sophomore holds a 2.61 goals against average on the year with 591 saves, sporting a .919 save percentage.

Catrina Chinetti's (Hyde Park, Mass./Boston Latin Academy / East Coast Wizards) three shot attempts paced Manhattanville as the senior continues to be the team's leader with 74 shots on goal this season. Jada Mackinnon (Barrington, Nova Scotia, Canada/King's Edgehill School) and Claire Hazard (Barnstable, Mass./Worcester Academy) added two apiece. Mackinnon was also Manhattanville's faceoff leader with 12 wins on the dot, leading all players on the ice.

Manhattanville was held without a shot on their lone power play opportunity, while the Falcons finished 2-of-4 with 10 shots.
