PURCHASE, N.Y. — The Manhattanville University men's lacrosse program continued its 2026 campaign with its home opener on GoValiants.com Field Saturday afternoon against Massachusetts Maritime, falling by a final of 22-7. The loss moves the Valiants' record to 1-2 overall.
The Valiants were led by Frank Tallerico (Monroe Township, N.J./Monroe Township) and Dylan Foley (Northport, N.Y./Northport), scoring twice each. Tallerico provided an additional assist and collected three ground balls, while Foley added two ground balls. Drew Palladino (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh), Nick Corace (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville), and Tyler Berch (Syosset, N.Y./Syosset) each tagged a goal of their own, with Palladino securing three assists to add to his tally, with Chris Marinaccio (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) also adding his name to the assists tab.
The visiting Buccaneers struck first in the opening quarter, collecting their first goal within the first minute of play. The visitors from the north did not let off the gas, adding three more goals in the following six minutes to take a 4-0 lead. Manhattanville's attack broke through with 4:35 left in the quarter when Berch found his way past the Buccaneers' defense, finishing off an assist from Palladino for his third goal of the year. Mass. Maritime added two more goals in the closing 61 seconds, ending the first quarter up 6-1.
The Bucs scored all four goals of the second quarter and continued what became a 13-0 scoring run midway through the third. The Valiants scored the final three goals of the frame, with Tallerico scoring twice ahead of Foley finding the net. Marinaccio picked up his first collegiate assist on Tallerico's second, while Palladino set up Foley's strike.
Mass. Maritime outscore the Valiants 5-3 in the final quarter of play, with Palladino, Corace and Foley scoring the final goals for the home team.
Joe Ulzheimer (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) took the loss, falling to 1-2 with 14 goals allowed and 11 saves in 36:44 in the net. Elijah Bell (Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin) played the final 23-plus, making a pair of saves.
Francisco Rosas (Stratford, Conn./Stratford) led the Valiants' defensive effort with seven ground balls and four caused turnovers. Chris Guazzo (Rye, N.Y./Rye High School) won a team-high four faceoffs for the home side.
