Men's Lacrosse Season Concludes with Skyline Semifinal Loss at USMMA

KINGS POINT, N.Y. – The Manhattanville University men's lacrosse team was defeated by No. 1 United States Merchant Marine Academy on Thursday night in the Skyline Conference Championship Semifinals. The loss brings the Valiants' final record on the season to 7-9.

USMMA scored 18 consecutive goals across the first half and opening 3:37 of the third quarter en route to their eventual 26-3 win. Ian Denzer (Ossining, N.Y./Ossining) got the Valiants on the board against the top-ranked Mariners with his second goal of the season off an assist from Drew Palladino (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh). Merchant Marine added three more goals onto their lead before Michael Karabinchak (Piscataway, N.J./Saint Joseph Metuchen) found the back of the net with 3:15 left in the period.

The Mariners scored five more goals before Jack Roberts (Middlefield, CT/Lyman Hall) delivered the final strike of his freshman campaign, his eighth of the year, with 5:29 left in regulation.

Adam Baker (Howell, N.J./Howell High School) made his collegiate debut in net with the tough task of trying to contain the Skyline's top offense, as the freshman would end the night with nine total saves.

Nick Corace (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) and Chris Mercado (Aberdeen, Md./Aberdeen) finished with four ground balls apiece to lead Manhattanville, the latter aided by his seven faceoff victories on the night. Baker added another three while in the cage.

Dylan Foley (Northport, N.Y./Northport) and Freddie Steenson (Huntington Station, N.Y./Walt Whitman) accounted for the Valiants' two caused turnovers.

Merchant Marine goes on to host the Skyline Championship finals on Saturday against No. 3 Maritime at noon.
