Men's Tennis Topped by Farmingdale in Skyline Finals, 4-3

PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville University men's tennis team saw its 2025-26 season draw to a close on Friday afternoon with a 4-3 loss to No. 2 Farmingdale State College in the Skyline Conference Championship Finals. The Valiants officially end the season with a 13-9 record.

In the title bout between the Skyline's top two seeds, the hosting Valiants gained the upperhand by securing the doubles point. Elouan Charretteur (Fontainebleau, France/Lycée International Francois Premier 1er) and Kazuma Kato (Nerima, Tokyo, Japan/Aioi Gakuin) defeated Devan Melandro and Zakaria Ahmed 6-2 in No. 1s, while Thomas Jouanneau (Luneville, France/Lycee Arago) and Derwin Guzman (Bronx, N.Y./Frederick Douglass Academy) notched a 6-3 win against Kwaku Agyeman and Henri Pothier, 6-3, to put Manhattanville up 1-0 on the scoreboard.

Nicholas Gervasi (Melbourne, Victoria, Australia/Epsom College) and Sami Badre-Hume (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bay Ridge Prep) were locked up against Luke Plana and Emil Sabovic 5-5 when doubles came to a halt.

Kato was the first to secure a win in solos as the sophomore defeated Ahmed 6-3, 6-4 in No. 2s. The Rams earned their first point of the contest as Pothier defeated Gervasi 6-4, 6-1 in No. 5s, but Charretteur defeated Agyeman 6-1, 6-2 in No. 3s to put the Valiants up 3-1, needing just one the remaining three flights to capture the conference title.

With their backs against the wall, the Rams pulled off the comeback to capture their fourth-straight Skyline title. Melandro defeated Jouanneau 6-1, 7-5 in the show court before Michael Lerman won over Guzman, 1-6, 6-1, 6-1 in No. 4s to tie the match at 3-3.

All eyes turned to the deciding matchup on court 6 between Badre-Hume and Danial Zindani. The Valiant freshman battled to the end, but Zindani ultimately stood tall with a 7-5, 7-5 win to send Farmingdale back to the NCAA Tournament next week.
