PURCHASE, N.Y. – Following a strong showing on the court, Maria Gutierrez (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon) of the Manhattanville University women's tennis team has been selected as the Skyline Conference Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 20.

Gutierrez went undefeated across singles and doubles action in the Valiants' matchup against Baruch on Saturday. Competing at No. 5 singles, Gutierrez battle to a three-set victory over Maria Calvo Prado, 7-6 (8-6), 6-7 (4-7), 7-5. She also teamed up with Maddie Maras (Brunswick, M.D./Brunswick) at No. 3 doubles, with the duo earning a 7-6 (7-3) victory over Jacqueline Moreno and Ruth Kay Madariaga of Baruch.

Gutierrez and the Valiants look to build off their performance as they face New Paltz Sept. 23 at 3:30PM.
