THROGGS NECK, N.Y. - The Manhattanville University men's soccer team continued its strong start to Skyline Conference play Thursday evening, defeating Maritime College (2-5-0, 1-2 SKY) 2-0 at Reinhart Field. With the victory, the Valiants improve to 6-1-3 overall and a perfect 3-0-0 in Skyline Conference play.
Manhattanville wasted little time getting on the board, striking in the 11th minute. Koky Duarte (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Walter Panas) opened the scoring at 10:22, finding the lower-left corner to give the Valiants an early 1-0 advantage. The goal marked Duarte's second of the season.
The Valiants continued to generate chances throughout the opening half. Alec Pineda (Yonkers, N.Y./Port Chester) put a pair of attempts on frame, while Manuel Morales (Madrid, Spain/International College Spain) also tested Maritime goalkeeper Aidan Slovensky. Manhattanville carried its 1-0 lead into halftime after recording eight shots over the opening 45 minutes.
Manhattanville doubled its lead shortly after the break. Following a Maritime foul, the Valiants were credited with a team goal at 53:31 to push them forward 2-0.
On the defensive end, Dwayne Brown II (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) played all 90 minutes in net and made three saves to secure the clean sheet. Maritime's final shot on goal came in the 88th minute, with Brown II making the save to preserve the shutout.
Pineda led the team with four shots, followed by Duarte who recorded 3. Shots by the Valiants were evenly distributed across the team with ten others finishing with one shot.

The Valiants look to remain undefeated in Skyline Conference play as they hit the road Sept. 29 to face The University of Mount Saint Vincent at 6PM.
