2012-13: Appeared in five events during the indoor season … set a new program indoor record in the 5,000 at Springfield (2/2), crossing the line in 17:16.91 … named to the MAC Winter Academic Honor Roll.
2011-12: Made four appearances on the track during the indoor season … posted three top-10 finishes at the Wesleyan Invitational (1/14), including finishing fifth in the 800 with a season-best time of 2:26.69 … ran the mile twice, including a season-best 5:03.05 at the BU Valentine Invitational (2/11) … helped the Distance Medley Relay team to a sixth-place finish at the MAC Indoor Championships (2/24), earning second-team All-Conference honors … took to the track for seven events during the outdoor season … ran the 5,000 on three occasions, posting his best time of the year at Eastern Connecticut (4/13) by crossing the line in 17:03.48 … had the team’s best 10,000 result of the season, finishing in 35:37.31 at the Dick Shea Open (3/31) … named to the MAC Winter and Spring Academic Honor Rolls.
2010-11: Ran in five meets during the indoor season and eight during the outdoor season … ran the 800, mile, 3,000 and 5,000 during the indoor year, setting new program records in the latter two … set a new 3,000 mark at Springfield (2/5), crossing the line in 9:56.40 … took 22nd place in the 5,000 with a program-best time of 17:22.24 at the MAC Indoor Championships (2/26) … ran primarily in the 5,000 and 10,000 during the outdoor year, setting new school marks in both races … his best 5,000 time came at Springfield (4/23), taking 13th place with a time of 16:43.11 … set the school 10,000 mark as well at the Monmouth Season-Opener (3/25) with a time of 34:56.05 … named to the MAC Winter and Spring Academic Honor Rolls.
2009-10: Took part in five indoor meets, mostly in the mile … placed 17th in the mile at the MAC Indoor Championships (2/27), crossing the line in a season-best time of 5:09.12 … one of two Valiants to appear in all seven meets during the outdoor season … had the team’s best time in three different events … posted the top-two Valiant times in the 1,500 run, including a season-best 4:33.09 at the Dick Shea Open (4/3) … ran the 3,000 twice, beginning with a 9:48.33 time at the Elmer Swanson Invitational (4/10) … was the only Valiant to run the grueling 5,000, posting a season-best time of 16:49.47 at the Vassar Open (4/30) … named to the MAC Winter and Spring Academic Honor Rolls.
2008-09: Took part in five 1,500 races during the outdoor track season … posted a season-best time of 4:40.58 at the Springfield Invitational (4/18).
High School: A 2008 graduate of Watertown High School … was a two-year letterwinner in both cross country and track & field for the Indians … helped his team to three consecutive Nougatuck Valley League titles from 2004-06.
Personal: Born August 27, 1989 … son of Tom and Marianne Szarkowicz … has two sisters, Andrea and Mary, and a brother, Tom … graduated from Manhattanville in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in education and history.
