    Assistant Baseball Coach
John-Michael Guarino completed his first season as the top assistant baseball coach at Manhattanville College in 2019.

A former collegiate pitcher, Guarino is primarily responsible for the Valiants' pitching staff. Under his direction in 2019, rookie reliever Nick Carita earned Second Team All-MAC Freedom honors and led the team with a 3.28 ERA.

Guarino came to Manhattanville after a four-year career at Oswego State from 2014-17. He posted a 6-2 record with a 3.97 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 47.2 innings of work over 29 career appearances. As a junior, Guarino allowed no runs in seven innings over five appearances, allowing just three hits and walking none, holding opposing batters to a microscopic .130 batting average. As a senior in 2017, Guarino set career bests in strikeouts (20), innings pitched (21), and saves (3), which tied for the team lead; three innings of perfect relief with four strikeouts on April 22 of his senior year against SUNY Cortland earned him D3Baseball.com Relief Pitcher of the Week honors.

In addition to his time on the diamond, Guarino most recently served as the interim head coach and recruiting coordinator for Monroe College - Bronx campus' inaugural baseball season, achieving the program's first-ever victory. This past summer, Guarino served as head coach of the North Atlantic Select Organization's 15U team of the Perfect Game Baseball Association. Guarino previously spent two years with the Frozen Ropes Organization, serving as head coach of the organization’s 16U travel team in 2016 and 17U travel team in 2017. 
 
A native of New Hampton, N.Y., Guarino earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Oswego State in 2017, and currently resides in Purchase, N.Y. while pursuing his Master’s Degree.
