Kevin Warnock finished for his third season as head coach of the Manhattanville men's lacrosse team in 2014, continuing the task of rebuilding the Manhattanville program to a position of prominence in the conference and in the region.
In his third year as head coach in 2014, Warnock continued to develop a young squad comprised of 20 underclassmen and only seven upperclassmen, including just one senior. While the team's 1-15 record did not indicate the development and progressions made by the class of new recruits, Manhattanville had two players selected to the All-Freedom Conference teams following the season, as freshman Andrew Murray and junior Tony Ramos marked the first time in program history that multiple players have earned All-Freedom or All-MAC distinction. Inheriting a roster that featured just two seniors and only nine upperclassmen, Warnock guided the Valiants to a 4-11 record in his first season of 2012, including a 2-3 mark in the Freedom Conference. He earned his first collegiate victory with a 13-6 win over Mount St. Vincent in his debut on February 25, and helped the squad close the season strong with wins in the final two games, including a 10-9 (OT) Senior Day thriller over King's (Pa.) in the season finale.
Warnock has been coaching at the collegiate level for seven years since graduating from the cradle of college men’s lacrosse coaches, Springfield College, in 2005. His last position came at Bates College in the ultra-competitive New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC), where he served as the first assistant coach for three seasons (2009-11). On the field, he served as offensive coordinator and was the team’s substitution coach and faceoff and goalie specialist. Off the field, he served as the recruiting coordinator at the highly selective academic institution and also was heavily involved in strength & conditioning activities and academic monitoring.
Prior to his time in Lewiston, Warnock was the top assistant coach at Saint Leo University in 2007-08. While in Florida with the young Division II program, the coach implemented strategies and adjustments on the offensive end and also played a role in recruiting and academic monitoring.
Warnock got his first coaching job right out of college with Western New England College in Springfield, Mass., serving as an assistant with the nationally recognized program until 2007. He was charged with the development of faceoff personnel (over 60 percent success rate each season) and wing play, while also maintaining the substitution box throughout the game. In his final season of 2007, the Golden Bears posted a 17-1 record, won the Pilgrim League championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals before finishing the year ranked third in Division III.
In addition to his collegiate work, Warnock also served as director of the New England Developmental Lacrosse Elite Travel Team between 2005 and 2007, recruiting and coaching prospective scholastic-level athletes and helping them in the search for post-secondary education.
Warnock graduated from Springfield College in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in American Studies. A four-year letterwinner in the midfield with the Pride, he netted 62 goals with 15 assists for 77 points in 60 career games, played in three NCAA Tournaments and was selected to play in the 2005 NEILA East-West Game.
A native of Somers, Conn., he currently resides in Fairfield, Conn.
