Lucas Schiel joined the Manhattanville men's soccer staff as assistant coach in August 2026.
A stand-out collegiate goalkeeper, Schiel played for SUNY Niagara of the NJCAA from 2020 to 2022 while earning his associate's degree before finishing his undergraduate tenure and playing career at SUNY Potsdam from 2022 to 2024. In his three seasons with the Division III Bears, Schiel made 173 saves with a 1.85 goals-against average, racking up nine wins in net with five shutouts. Schiel was a mainstay on the Dean's List and President's List at both institutions and was an Academic All-District selection in 2023 and 2024 with Potsdam.
Schiel began his coaching career in 2025, returning to Potsdam as an assistant and goalkeeper coach starting in February. During the spring semester, Schiel was involved with the planning and leading of drills and practice plans. He went on to continue developing his coaching skills that summer at the St. Lawrence Summer Camp in Canton, New York, working as an Elite Camp coach and goalkeeper coach.
Schiel also brings with him multiple years of experience in the field of strength and conditioning, working as a personal trainer at Potsdam's Shane T. Shauls Fitness Center from 2022 to 2025. He also held a strength and conditioning internship at Potsdam in the spring of 2024.
Schiel earned an associate degree in sports management from Niagara in 2022 before graduating from Potsdam with a bachelor's degree in exercise science and a minor in sports management in 2024.
