Following his career as a Valiant, Jimmy Ascencio was appointed assistant coach of the Manhattanville College men’s and women’s cross country and track and field teams starting August 2023.
Prior to coaching, Ascencio was a four-year member of the Manhattanville cross country and track and field teams from 2019 to 2023. The runner was recognized on the Skyline Winter/Spring Academic Honor Rolls during the 2019-20 and 2022-23 academic years. In 2019, he was also a recipient of the Sr. Mary T. Clark Community Service Scholarship and Dean’s Award. His most recent accolade was taking second place at the Skyline Championships with the 4x100 team during his senior season.
Ascencio was a voice for his team as he represented both cross country and track and field on the Manhattanville Student Athlete Advisory Committee from 2021 to 2023. He has also volunteered with the Sr. Mary T. Clark Community Service Center from 2019 to 2022 where he was helping in the Casting Kids program and the Park Days program. Ascencio worked as a Manhattanville Resident Advisor where he would facilitate programming for student support and assistance within the campus community. He also worked with the Athletic Department’s Sports Medicine staff as a First Responder assisting with pre and post-game safety measures and attending to emergency situations while following campus protocol and performing immediate treatment.
Ascencio is a 2023 graduate of Manhattanville College, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Studies with a minor in Business Management. He currently resides in Purchase, N.Y.
